Normally, when I think of the Psychic Ills, I think first of New York City, and then of the sort of enigmatic mentality whereby a group from that often fickle and fashion-bent town might wish to establish themselves as uncompromising purveyors of the endless jam. In this light, the title of their upcoming fourth LP, One Track Mind, makes sense, although this first missive from the album, with its twangy guitar line and back-up vocals from Royal Trux’s Neil Michael Hagerty, sounds kind of like straight-up, three-chord blues-rock if you ask me (note, also, that the cover art is by 13th Floor Elevators collaborator Powell St. John). Grab it February 19th via Sacred Bones.
